Western Linguistics professors publish 'Thinking like a Linguist'

Western Professor of Linguistics Kristin Denham and Assistant Professor of Linguistics Jordan Sandoval have published a new book that introduces the study of language for undergraduate and beginning graduate students who would like to further their linguistics studies.

“Thinking like a Linguist: An Introduction to the Science of Language” introduces students to analytical thinking about language, focusing on foundational areas of linguistics and scientific analysis. The book offers step-by-step instructions on interpreting a wide range of data teach students to perform scientific linguistic analysis, with practice exercises integrated throughout the text and examples from a diverse array of languages. “Thinking like a Linguist” was published by Cambridge University Press.
