Western Libraries Update: Summit Now Available; Returning Library Materials; Due Dates 

Requesting & Borrowing Books and Materials

In addition to being able to request library materials for on-site pickup or mail delivery, all current Western Washington University students, staff, and faculty may now place requests for items from participating Summit libraries. The on-site pick up times are still Tuesdays and Fridays between 10 a.m. and noon, and items that are selected for mail delivery are mailed each Wednesday. 

The Orbis Cascade Alliance has reinstituted sharing materials on an opt-in basis as libraries are able to safely resume onsite services. At this time, not all libraries have been able to rejoin, which means materials you may have requested through Summit in the past may not be currently available. Also, due to quarantine requirements and reduced staffing at our partner libraries, delivery of Summit materials will take longer than normal—likely 10-14 days for on-site curbside pickup, and longer for postal mail delivery. 

Once your request is filled, we will send you an email letting you know that your item is ready for pickup or that it has been mailed. Due Dates and Returning Books & Materials

In order to ensure that those who are unable to return items due to COVID-19 do not accrue late fees, the due dates for materials currently checked out have been extended to January 8, 2021. 

However, if you are able to return materials before that date, please do so. You may use the book return drop located outside beneath the skybridge that connects the Wilson and Haggard buildings. This book return drop is now open all hours. You may also return items by mail to:  Western Libraries / 516 High Street / Bellingham, WA 98225-9103.
