In an ongoing effort to fight hunger in local communities, Kellogg’s Food Away From Home has teamed up with Feeding America, the nation’s leading domestic hunger-relief organization, and Western Washington University to donate cereal to Food Lifeline.
Kellogg has supported food banks across the U.S. for nearly 30 years. On average, the company donates $20 million of products annually. In the 2011 College & University program, Kellogg donated an estimated 530,000 servings of cereal with the support of 118 universities nationwide.
This year, Kellogg has partnered with Western Washington University to encourage students to make the choice that makes a difference by participating in the “Eat. Share. Prosper.” program.
According to Feeding America, nearly 49 million people – one out of six in the U.S. population – do not have enough to eat while 16 percent of WA residents face hunger each day. Kellogg and Western Washington University are making it easy for students to become involved and help provide relief to those in need. Every time students choose a bowl of Kellogg’s® cereal during January 28, 2013 to February 28, 2013, Kellogg will donate a bowl of cereal to Food Lifeline.

Food Lifeline annually distributes 35,330,829 pounds of food through their network of partner agencies. Feeding America supplies more than 3 billion pounds of food to more than 37 million Americans each year throughout their network of more than 200 food banks across the country.
