Western CEV Director Tom Dorr Resigns

Tom Dorr, director of Western Washington University’s College of Business and Economics’ Center for Economic Vitality (CEV), is resigning his position as director of the CEV, effective April 14.

Dorr originally was hired as the director of Western’s Small Business Development Center in 1996 and later became director of the CEV. The SBDC – and later the CEV – has provided counseling to local and area businesses.

Meg Greenfield, CEV assistant director of operations, will serve as interim director. A search will be launched for a permanent CEV director.

The CEV provides free, confidential business counseling and technical assistance combined with competitive intelligence research / economic gardening services to business owners and managers throughout the state of Washington interested in increasing exports. The CEV was established in 2009 from the former SBDC in order to have expanded flexibility in services offered. A separate new SBDC was established by Western in 2010. Jennifer Shelton is the director of the SBDC.
