Water main to be replaced this summer; info meeting set for Feb. 28

Facilities Management at Western Washington University is installing a new water main to replace the aging, cast iron main that runs from Bond Hall through central campus to Oak Street. This is being done to ensure that all campus buildings have adequate fire flows.

The campus community is invited to attend an informational presentation at noon Feb. 28 in the Wilson Library Presentation Room (WL164F) to learn about the project, Public Works Project #654.

The construction phase begins in mid June, and the project is scheduled to be complete by the end of August.

The agenda for the Feb. 28 meeting will include: project description and review of utility requirements, scheduling and phasing, and construction impacts and safety concerns. Attendees may address project representatives from the Office of Facilities Development and Capital Budget, Facilities Management and the project engineer from Wilson Engineering, LLC with any concerns during a question and answer period.

An additional town hall will be held prior to construction when more details are available.

Sandy Fugami is the project manager. She can be contacted at (360) 650-2230 or sandy.fugami@wwu.edu.
