Waste audit to be conducted May 25; volunteers needed

The SORTS team at Western Washington University will be auditing campus waste from 2 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 25, in Red Square.

The SORTS project was created to increase the diversion of compostable and recyclable materials on campus through the placement of four, four-part sorting stations placed in Red Square. Now, volunteers are collecting data on the success of the project.

Those interested may sign up to volunteer. Volunteers will join the SORTS project team, listed below, for food, fun, data collection, music and more. No experience needed.

The project is funded by the Sustainable Action Fund in partnership with Zero Waste Western, Facilities Management, the AS Recycle Center and the Office of Sustainability.
