Washington Campus Compact, in partnership with six regional state Campus Compact organizations, will hold the 18th-annual Continuums of Service Conference in Long Beach, Calif., April 8 to 10 aboard the historic Queen Mary Ship and Hotel.

The event is focused on faculty and staff interested in student engagement or service-learning programs. The theme of this year’s COS Conference is “Seeking Solutions to Complex Challenges Through Inquiry and Engagement.” The conference will bring together civic engagement and service-learning administrators, faculty, students and community partners from around the region and nation to explore complex problems, identify essential partnerships, and develop student engagement strategies that move communities toward positive change.

The COS Conference features five pre-conference sessions and three days of concurrent sessions for participants at all levels of experience with service-learning and student engagement. Each day of the conference will feature keynote sessions from distinguished academics and leaders in the student engagement field.

Keynote speakers include:

“We are excited to once again organize this conference with our regional partners to promote student engagement and to foster a learning community that shares best practices in the field. This year’s COS will focus on how higher education has a critical leadership role in tackling some of the most important questions facing our communities, and how we as service-learning and student engagement practitioners can best contribute to finding solutions to these issues,” said Washington Campus Compact’s Executive Director, Jennifer Hine.
