Want to work, study or volunteer overseas? Visit the International Opportunities Fair Jan. 27

Western Washington University’s annual International Opportunities Fair will take place on campus from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 27, in the Viking Union Multipurpose Room. The fair is the largest campus-wide event dedicated to providing information about work, volunteer, study and internship positions abroad.

Fair attendees will be able to meet with representatives from approximately 60 organizations. Some participating organizations include the Peace Corps, U.S. Department of State, IE3 Global Internships, Semester at Sea, International Au Pair Exchange, American Institute for Foreign Study, Adventure Teaching, Hess Education and a wide range of internationally focused programs at WWU.

In addition, the event will feature WWU faculty-led study abroad programs during 2011 spring break, summer and next fall. These unique learning opportunities in disciplines such as ecology, sustainable development, TESOL, art, history and more, are available in Senegal, Tanzania, Kenya, Canada, Mexico, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Peru, Greece, Switzerland and Italy.

To complement the fair, the Career Services Center and International Programs and Exchanges will host special presentations and workshops of interest to those who are considering employment or internships abroad and include:

  • How to Navigate the International Opportunities Fair: 4 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 25, Viking Union Room 552
  • Teach English as a Second Language - A panel discussion with employers: 4 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 27, Viking Union Room 552
