Want to work, study or volunteer abroad? Attend the Jan. 30 info fair

The International Opportunities Fair will take place on campus from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, in the Viking Union Multipurpose Room.

The fair is the largest campus-wide event dedicated to providing information about work, volunteer, study and internship positions abroad. Fair attendees can meet with representatives from approximately 60 organizations, including the Peace Corps, Semester at Sea, Adventure Teaching, US Department of State, American Institute for Foreign Study and a wide range of internationally focused programs at WWU.

Featured will be the WWU faculty-led 2014 study abroad programs. These unique learning opportunities in disciplines such as environmental studies, ecotourism, tropical marine biology, sustainable development, TESOL, Chinese language, classical studies and art are available in China, Greece, Guatemala, India, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Rwanda and Spain.

To complement the fair, a number of special presentations of interest to those who are considering international options are planned:

  • For general information about international possibilities, attend the international jobs and internships workshop at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28, in Viking Union Room 552.
  • For insider hints on how to make the most of the fair, attend "How to Navigate the International Opportunities Fair" at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 29, in Viking Union Room 552.
  • For info on how native English speakers with four-year degrees can teach overseas, attend "Teach English as a Second Language: a panel discussion with employers" at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 30, in Viking Union Room 552.
