Viking Landing event to help students navigate GURs is Feb. 19

Viking Landing: Making the Most of Your GURs is a drop-in informational session for students to hear from academic advisers, GUR faculty and upper-division students about how to think about the GURs and strategies for choosing them.

The open house-like event also will provide information about opportunities for individual advising for next quarter. Come by anytime between 2 and 4 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19, in the Learning Commons, Wilson Library 283 (next to the Tutoring Center).

Refreshments will be served and a drawing held for a certificate to the Associated Students Bookstore.

Sponsored by the vice provost for undergraduate uducation, the Committee on Undergraduate Education and Academic Advising. For more information, contact Shevell Thibou at shevell.thibou@wwu.edu.

Faculty members teaching a class with students who are still negotiating the GURs are asked to announce this event. And those who have taught GURs, are teaching them now or plan to teach them in the future are especially encouraged to participate in this informational dialogue in an effort to help students approach the GURs not simply as courses to check off, but as opportunities.
