Two Viking Hockey Juniors Earn 2019-2020 Academic All-American Honors

The season may have finished more than two months ago, but the wins keep coming for Vikings Hockey. Junior forwards Keats Montrose (Accounting) and Dawson Roberts (Recreation Management and Leadership) were honored today by the American College Hockey Association (ACHA) as 2019-2020 Academic All Americans for Men's Division 2. To qualify for this honor, a student-athlete must have at least Junior standing and a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher.

Western is one of five university hockey programs in Washington state (the others are EWU, Gonzaga, UW, and WSU). Montrose and Roberts are the only two student-athletes in the state to earn this honor from the ACHA this year.

"I spoke with both players earlier today and congratulated them on this achievement," said head coach Larry MacDonald. "I'm continually proud of the growth our program is showing year over year, and inspired by the example Keats and Dawson are showing the rest of the team and other Viking student athletes by having such excellent performance both on and off the ice."
