Adventures in the Indian Ocean

A class for kids (suggestion: 5 and up)/curious minds/history enthusiasts on themes related to the Indian Ocean world. You will learn about sea journals, maps, monsoons, travelers, treasure ships, spice trade and of course, pirates.

Story Time w/ artist and author Amy Guglielmo

A half hour of live book reading with Amy Guglielmo. Amy is co-author of the award-winning POCKET FULL OF COLORS: The Magical World of Mary Blair Disney Artist Extraordinaire (Atheneum 2017), How to Build a Hug: Temple Grandin and Her Amazing Squeeze Machine (Atheneum 2018) with co-author Jacqueline Tourville and CEZANNE'S PARROT (Putnam 2020) a picture book biography about artist Paul Cézanne, known as the father of modern art, who taught his pet parrot to say, “Cézanne is a great painter.” Brett Helquist will illustrate. Additionally, Amy is the co-author of Touch the Art children's series (Sterling 2006, 2009, 2010). The board books use master works with tactile additions to illustrate original stories and provide a funny and interactive introduction to fine arts, artists, and the history behind the famous paintings. Titles include: Brush Mona Lisa's Hair, Make Van Gogh's Bed and Pop Warhol's Top.
