‘The Rules of Raising Money’ lecture set for Aug. 13

Western Washington University’s Small Business Development Center will play host to “The Rules of Raising Money,” at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 13, in the lecture room at the Bellingham Public Library.

There is no cost to attend, but reservations are required; call 360-778-1762 or e-mail sbdc@wwu.edu to make a reservation.

The presentation will focus on securities law and how it pertains to raising capital, defines what a security is and how a transaction may involve a security. Business owners who are looking to raise capital in the form of debt equity or crowd funding are encouraged to attend.

Guest speakers from the Washington State Department of Financial Institutions include Jordan Rood, associate general counsel at the securities division, and Eric Palosaari, who works as an enforcement attorney.

This event is funded in part by a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration.
