The Books to perform Nov. 21 at WWU

The Associated Students Pop Music will host the band The Books on Nov. 21 in the Performing Arts Center Mainstage.

The Books are an experimental band that mixes electronica, folk and acoustic music. They are comprised of Paul de Jong and Nick Zammuto, both based out of Massachusetts. During live shows they use audio-video technology to incorporate samples of sounds, speech, music, text and pictures.

Jong and Zammuto began working together in 2000 and have four records including the most recent: Music for a French Elevator (2006), according to their Web site. Jong and Zammuto do all of their own sample collecting, composing, writing, recording, mixing, and mastering in their home studios.

The concert will open with Pan Pan, a local Bellingham band.

Doors open at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $7 for students with I.D. and $10 for general admission. Tickets are available at the WWU Box Office at (360) 650-6146 or at www.tickets.wwu.edu.
