Tech Tonic tech expo looking for speakers to discuss 'digital uprising'

Tech Tonic, the annual technology exhibition at Western Washington University, is seeking presenters to speak on the topic of "digital uprising."

Sponsored by the Student Technology Center at WWU, Tech Tonic will take place May 6.

In addition to exhibits, Tech Tonic organizers plan to have a number of speakers discuss how the disruptive forces of technology are making their impact on democracy, privacy, security and everyday interactions. Topics may include:

  • How is social networking being used to organize political movements?
  • Is the free-flow of information on WikiLeaks and other open-source publications ultimately good for our democracy?
  • How is social media reshaping our expectations for privacy, distribution of creative materials and our evaluation of expertise?
  • In what way are new business models for the dissemination of corporate media sustainable?

Suggest a speaker for this event via an e-mail message to stc.events@wwu.edu. To register your group or organization for the exhibition and/or to propose to speak at the event, complete the Tech Tonic online registration.
