Summer construction continues in Red Square area

Summer construction projects on campus are in full swing. The most highly impacted area is Red Square where two major projects are taking place. Conditions change daily if not hourly. The construction fencing in front of Haggard Hall defines the work area for both projects.

Progress on Public Works Project #654 Water Main Replacement project has been delayed multiple times due to the discovery of numerous underground obstructions. The contractor is completing the installation of the Phase One water main in front of Haggard Hall. They will clean and test this section of the water main in preparation for final connections. Investigative work for Phase Two (between Humanities and Wilson Library and in the Rose Garden by Old Main) is making this area extremely hazardous. Please use extra caution. At project completion, the new 12 inch water main and fire hydrants will become part of the City of Bellingham’s water system.

Closely following PW#654 is PW#653 which involves the removal, leveling and replacement of brick pavers in front of Haggard Hall and by the Bond Hall bike rack. The bike racks have been temporarily moved in front of Carver Gym. The brickwork by Fine Arts and Edens Hall has already been completed.
