Students with plans to see the world can start at the Go Abroad Fair Thursday, Jan. 30
An increasing number of Western students are going global. For this academic year, over 600 students will be going abroad through Education Abroad. The top countries of destination are Japan, Italy, Australia, Greece, and Costa Rica.
The 29th Annual Go Abroad Fair
Thursday, Jan. 30, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Viking Union Multipurpose Room
The Go Abroad Fair will also include organizations that offer jobs abroad teaching English or serving local communities, such as the Peace Corps. All organizations at the Fair have been checked out by Western; their programs are generally well-regarded and for academic programs, would likely translate into WWU credits (WWU credit is not guaranteed).
Students are encouraged to attend a 30 minute Western Abroad 101 information session to learn about the opportunities available to them. Sessions are offered daily during the academic terms. Winter quarter sessions are Mondays and Tuesdays at 4pm, Wednesdays and Thursdays at 9am, and Fridays at noon. Contact EdAbroad for room locations each quarter. Students can also explore the Education Abroad website before the Fair, so they can start thinking about what type of experience they’re looking for. Attending the How to Navigate the Go Abroad Fair workshop on Wednesday, January 29 from 4-5pm in Miller Hall 258 is a great way to prepare and get tips on how to make the most of the Fair.
