Faculty and Students: Get the help you need at the Hacherl Writing Studio

Welcome to Winter Quarter!

The Hacherl Research & Writing Studio is excited to open its doors for Winter Quarter! We invite you to take advantage of our resources below and to remind students of the services we offer for all subjects and all academic levels, from first-years to graduate students.

Here are some of the ways we can support you and your students:

CLASSROOM VISITS:

A Studio Assistant can visit your class to introduce the services we offer and answer questions.

STUDIO ORIENTATIONS

Schedule an orientation for your class in the Studio! They’ll get to experience the Studio firsthand and learn specific ways the Studio can be helpful for what they are working on.

SYLLABUS BLURB: https://library.wwu.edu/rws/faculty

You can copy and paste this explanation of our services directly into your syllabus or Canvas for students to refer to!

WORKSHOPS: https://library.wwu.edu/rws/faculty

For your courses with research-based writing assignments, our workshops can help your students learn new skills for researching and writing while also making progress on their individual or group assignments.

GROUP PROJECT SUPPORT

We can set up regular meetings with student groups to provide guidance for a complex group project, right from the start.

STUDIO PARTNERS PRACTICUM: https://library.wwu.edu/rws/connect

Do you have a student who would benefit from ongoing support? We can work with them to develop a customized learning plan and match them to a Studio Partner to help them practice new skills and strategies for their current coursework. Students can take part in the practicum for credit, if they would like.

Questions? Feel free to email us at rws@wwu.edu or check out our website at wwu.edu/rws.

If you feel like taking a stroll, come check out our space! We are located on the second floor of Haggard Hall.

Happy Winter Quarter,

The Hacherl Research & Writing Studio Team
