Students can learn all about Americorps at Wednesday event

Western Washington University’s Career Services Center and the Center for Service-Learning are putting on a panel discussion for students and graduates interested in exploring opportunities with Americorps.

The discussion, "Americorps: the insiders guide to everything you need to know," will take place from 4 to 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 13, in Viking Union Room 552. The panelists include current and former Americorps members who have worked in a variety of programs.

Americorps offers 75,000 opportunities in nonprofit organizations nationwide in community development, environment, public safety, housing, youth development and more. Americorps program coordinators and a current volunteer will share insights and will share expert advice to help students:

  • Get the inside scoop on the application process

In a tight job market, Americorps offers an option for students who would like to gain meaningful, professional experience in unique and challenging environments. Western graduates have served in Americorps positions building homes in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, teaching reading to students in low-income communities, and assisting nonprofit agencies who make a difference in our communities.
