Students can get free Microsoft software, including Windows 8

A special trial program has been established with Microsoft Corporation to allow all current Western Washington University students to receive Microsoft Windows operating system upgrades, including Windows 8, and the complete Office Professional Suite (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) for Windows and Mac OS at no charge for the 2012-13 academic year.

The program is funded this year by WWU Information Technology while long-term funding is sought. If continued, a permanent license for the software will be given upon graduation. If discontinued, the software would need to be removed.

To get the free trial software, students can go to http://www.wwu.edu/ms-student. Eligibility will be verified using the WWU student email address. For more information about the Microsoft Student Program, contact the ATUS Help Desk at helpdesk@wwu.edu or (360) 650-3333.

Faculty and staff are eligible to purchase Microsoft Office for $9.95 through the Microsoft Home Use Program. For more information about the faculty/staff Microsoft Home Use Program, contact ATUS Software Services at software.services@wwu.edu or (360) 650-3159.
