Student team wins social responsibility case competition

Western Manufacturing and Supply Chain/Operations Management student team Mitchell Gould (team captain), Crystal Kizanis, Garrett Mark, and Natnael Tekeste won first place in the Milgard Invitational Case Competition on Social Responsibility on April 19.

This is the second year in a row that a WWU student team won the competition.

Each student team in the competition had 72 hours to research and analyze the Nordstrom Corporate Social Responsibility case before presenting their recommendations to a panel of judges representing a broad base of industry expertise.

Western's team delivered a seamless presentation with superb answers to judges’ tough questions in both the preliminary round and the final round. They beat rivals from schools in Washington, Oregon and Hawaii.

Each of the team members received a $500 cash prize and a first-place trophy.
