Student portraits on display in SMATE foyer

Students in Garth Amundson's Art 372 class have posted for display in the SMATE foyer a series of large, color portraits.

The project explores the traditional use of color film for portraiture and asks the participants to consider scale combined with color.

The images were created with analog cameras, scanned and digitally printed on a wide format printer at 40-inches-by-50-inches each.

The ART372 Color class is composed primarily of photography concentration students interested in exploring the boundaries of color photography. ART 372 is designed to provide students with an introduction to the techniques, images and history of color photography. Students become familiar with color processes and begin to recognize the characteristics and qualities that light possesses.

Through work/review sessions, students are encouraged to evaluate their own ideas and judgments in pursuit of well-researched and constructed projects.

The photos will be up through May 26.
