Strong-arm robbery Sunday night near Buchanan Towers

University Police said a Western Washington University student was robbed of her phone and other belongings in front of Buchanan Towers residence hall on campus at 9:44 p.m. Sunday.

Police said the student was waiting at the bus stop at Bill McDonald Parkway when a man approached her, distracted her in conversation and then grabbed her phone and the case it was in out of her hand and ran away. The assailant was last seen running off campus on 25th Street near the archives building.

The robber was described as a black male in his late teens or early 20s, approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall, thin build, wearing a dark-colored beanie cap and a dark hoodie sweatshirt. He was wearing grey sweatpants. University Police is providing extra patrolling in that area.
