Strong arm robbery reported near campus

At 3 a.m. today, March 29, a Western Washington University student reported being the victim of a strong arm robbery near the intersection of Maple and High streets near campus. The student said she was walking home alone when two young men wearing dark hoodies approached her from behind and pushed her to the ground. They demanded money and she gave them the $5 that she had. They fled the area on foot.

Western Alert email and text messages with info on the incident were sent to the Western community at roughly 4:30 this morning.

Bellingham Police and University Police are now searching for the suspects. Anyone in this area should be particularly alert. Those with any information about this incident should call Bellingham Police at 911.
