Stephanie Cheng Elected WWU Associated Students President

Stephanie Cheng has been elected Western Washington University’s Associated Students president for the 2016-2017 academic year.

The Associated Students (AS) is both the association of all WWU students and the official student governing body. The AS is responsible for providing a framework for a variety of experiential learning opportunities and serving as a vehicle for student involvement in the governance of the university.

As president, Cheng will be chairperson of AS board meetings, oversee AS operations, and represent the Associated Students to the university’s Board of Trustees.

“I’m extremely excited to work with the rest of the newly elected board as well as to connect with our new university president, Sabah Randhawa, in the coming year,” Cheng said.

Cheng is a junior majoring in journalism – public relations. She is from Palm Desert, California, and has worked with Western’s New Student Services Family Outreach, Woodring College of Education and the Presidential Search Advisory Committee, along with other departments across the university.
