State Sen. Doug Ericksen to hold a town hall meeting at WWU Thursday

State Sen. Doug Ericksen, R-Ferndale, will hold a town hall meeting at Western Washington University Thursday, Oct. 12.

The meeting, sponsored by Western Washington Students for Life and WWU Young Americans for Liberty, begins at 7 p.m. at the Viking Union building. The meeting is open to the public without charge.

Ericksen will address issues of importance to college students today, including the state operating budget, capital budget, tuition, the job outlook for college graduates, and his work as chair of the Senate Energy, Environment and Telecommunications Committee.

Ericksen is a 1995 graduate of Western Washington University, where he earned a master’s degree in political science and environmental policy.

Ericksen has represented Whatcom County’s 42nd Legislative District since 1999, serving 12 years in the state House of Representatives before moving to the Senate. 

Parking on Western’s campus is available in the C/CR and 12A lots with no permit needed 4:30p.m.-7:30a.mweekdays. Parking pay stations are located in most “G” lots. They are available for use after 4:30 p.m. weekdays. The Parking Pay Station in 6V parking lot on Garden Street below the Viking Union is available for use all hours. Parking pay stations take credit and debit only.
