Spots still open in employee Spanish classes

Registration is open for the WWU Employee Language Program, an initiative put forth by the President's Office to support Western faculty and staff through professional development and to encourage multicultural outreach and awareness. The workshops are the result of a combined effort by the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, the Department of Modern and Classical Languages and Extended Education.

Four levels of courses and an additional session on Hispanic cultural studies are available winter quarter. Those interested should select the level that matches their background with Spanish and whichever time slot is most convenient and that works with work schedules (communicate with your supervisor to identify a time; if you have additional questions, a FAQ page has been developed and added to the program website). Courses will begin the second week of winter quarter, starting on Jan. 13.

For workshop level descriptions and recommended preparation, please visit the descriptions section on the program webpage.

In addition to the various classes, an open conversation group will meet from 1 to 2 p.m. Fridays in Viking Union Room 714 starting Jan. 17. This will be open to everyone to practice conversational Spanish skills.
