Smart Solar Window team to be honored May 6

The award-winning Smart Solar Window student team from Western Washignton University will be honored at a special event May 6 on Western's Bellingham campus.

The students, along with their faculty advisers David Patrick (Chemistry) and Ed Love (Marketing), will present a special "Materials After Dark" seminar at 4 p.m. Wednesday, May 6, in Communications Facility Room 120. A reception will follow at 5 p.m. in Environmental Studies Room 128.

This special event is co-sponsored by AMSEC and the Institute for Energy Studies, both of whom contributed funding for the student team to participate in the 2015 EPA People, Prosperity and the Planet Student Design Competition for Sustainability. The WWU Smart Solar Window student team was one of seven teams to win Phase I ($15,000) and Phase II ($75,000) awards in the competition, with the larger award coming at the recent National Sustainable Design Expo held in Washington, D.C., April 11 and 12.
