Simulated Accidents to be Staged near Red Square May 23

Actors will stage two simulated accidents on campus Wednesday, May 23, to remind students about the very real issue of pedestrian safety

Western’s Central Health and Safety Committee and the Theatre Department will stage two simulated transportation accidents on the south side of Red Square and near the Haggard Hall Skybridge from 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. The incidents are simulated for educational purposes and are not real but please be warned – there will be fake blood on actors.

The goal of this event is to dramatize the importance of safe and responsible travel through the core of campus.  Western’s Central Health and Safety Committee wants you arrive at your destination safely! On a busy, and occasionally congested campus, it’s important that commuters of all kinds look out for each other, remain aware of their surroundings, observe walk zones and share bike/walking paths.

A backup date of May 30 has been planned in case of rain.  For more information contact Environmental Health and Safety at 360-650-3064 or www.wwu.edu/ehs
