Sign up now for the Viking Supported Agriculture (VSA) program

The Office of Sustainability is once again facilitating its Viking Supported Agriculture (VSA) program that connects the campus community to local food producers who deliver boxes of their fresh items, directly to our office in High Street Hall, or to neighborhood locations in Bellingham during COVID-19 protocols. You can learn more about the benefits of connecting to farmers and food producers in this way at  Sustainable Connections' CSA website.

Getting good food to people in times of crisis and supporting local and sustainable agriculture is a highly supportive activity that each one of us may be able to participate in for our own health and the greater good of our community.  Please visit our website for more information: Office of Sustainability - Viking Supported Agriculture.

Providers will continue to deliver their items in either single-use containers and/or bags (due to virus concerns), or multi-use containers that are sanitized between uses. (Sanitization of containers is standard practice.)

Please identify yourself as a VSA participant if not using your wwu.edu email address to sign-up.  It helps our data!

Donate A Share: Food security continues to be challenging for our community members. We have set up a dedicated fund to receive your donations to help pay for weekly fresh produce for students in need. You may donate here:  VSA Foundation Account.  Last year a total of $729.00 was donated by the campus community, that paid for 60 weeks of fresh produce for our community members experiencing food insecurity.   Thank you!

All of the farms from this past year are returning again this year.  Please see the attached document below for greater detail on each farm for the 2021 season.  Also attached is the CSA member agreement for Tangled Thicket Farm, since they do not have a website for sign-ups.  Please sign up directly at each farm website.  For those of you who desire multiple shares, please follow the sign-up instructions for each provider.  If any questions arise, kindly contact the provider directly.  If you have WWU specific questions, please reach out to linda.sterling@wwu.edu.

Thank you for your interest in healthy food and supporting our local producers!

Warm wishes,
The Office of Sustainability Team
