'Sierra Leone's Refugee All Stars' to be shown Feb. 4 on campus

"Sierra Leone's Refugee All Stars" will be screened Wednesday as part of the Reel World Film Series for winter quarter. Wednesday's film is the second in the three-film series from the Center for International Studies at Western Washington University.

The film, which will be shown at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 4 in Viking Union Room 552, documents a group of musicians who form a band in a West African refugee camp to keep their hope alive.

The monthly series is free and open to the public. Faculty and student organizations are encouraged to suggest films that can supplement a course, an event or a discussion that raises awareness about other cultures, about global issues or about viewing the world from different perspectives.

The next film in the series, scheduled for March 4, is "Seeking Asian Female," a personal documentary about an aging white man obsessed with marrying an Asian woman.
