Search under way for next dean of College of Sciences and Technology

Steve Sulkin, chair of the Dean of the College of Sciences and Technology Search Committee, is encouraging participation in the search for the next dean of the college. The position announcement has been posted on a number of national websites, including the Chronicle for Higher Education and Science, and the search committee, which consists of faculty, staff and student representatives, will soon begin to evaluate applications.

The position is available because of the coming retirement of current dean Arlan Norman.

The committee’s current focus, however, is the creation of a strong pool of candidates that is characterized by high quality and diversity and assistance with this process from the university’s constituents is important. To that end, members of the campus community are encouraged to forward the link and information about this position to colleagues at other institutions who might be interested in the position and/or who can bring the opportunity to the attention of other potential candidates. In addition, nominations of colleagues who are qualified and might be interested are welcome. Nominations and contact information may be sent to Bev Jones in the Provost’s Office.

It is the intent of the search committee to complete the search process before the end of the academic year.
