Scholars Week set for May 17-24

The Scholars Week Committee is pleased to announce that WWU will continue the 21-year tradition of celebrating students’ scholarly pursuits with a week of virtual poster sessions and three-minute master thesis talks May 17 – 21. Scholars Week submissions will be accepted from April 26 – May 12.

As the event is virtual, students will have the ability to showcase multi-media work in addition to more traditional academic posters. This may include pre-recorded performances and other forms of visual work, slide shows, photographs, videography and a more expansive array of scholarly and creative work than the in-person event.

Faculty: Please encourage your students to participate, especially those whose work you find exceptional.

Participating students will also have the opportunity to host virtual chat sessions for “visitors,” to their individual poster sessions or presentations.

Instructions for submissions will be posted to Scholars Week website at the start of spring quarter.

Dates are as follows:

April 26 – May 12 — Submissions Accepted

Western graduate and undergraduate students conducting research or producing creative work of merit are encouraged to submit.

May 17 – May 21 — Scholars Week

An online gallery of presentations and live-streaming talks created by the student participants will become available to the campus community to browse, view, visit, provide comments and pose questions.

We ask faculty to share this information with their students and encourage student participation, especially for those students who have been preparing for and anticipating Scholars Week. Similar to last year, this year’s Scholars Week will not require a formal faculty nomination process; however, student participants will be asked to name either a faculty nominator or mentor as part of their submission. Named faculty will receive notification.
