Scholars Week begins with special kickoff event Monday, May 12

Scholars Week at Western Washington University begins Monday, May 12, on campus.

The kickoff event, to be held from 1 to 2 p.m. May 12 in VU 462 A/B, will feature Cyndie Shepard, who will be mistress of ceremonies. Three student presentations representing the breadth of the work represented in Scholars Week will present, as will Mark Greenberg, dean of the Western Libraries, on new developments in that part of the university.

The kickoff event is an opportunity to see the breadth and quality of Western students’ work and to get a sense of the entire week. Light refreshments will be served.

More information on the week's events is online.

Scholars Week is an annual celebration of undergraduate research and creative activities at WWU. What was originally envisioned as "Scholars Day" quickly became Scholars Week in order to accommodate a diverse series of events highlighting the scholarship and creativity of Western undergraduate students.
