Sanitary sewer line that serves Humanities has failed; crews are working on repair

A sanitary sewer line that serves Humanities has settled and failed. The Facilities Management crews are cleaning out the pipe daily and will continue to do so until a contractor can begin replacement of the pipe – tentatively scheduled to begin the week of August 8th. The south entrance to Humanities will be closed; construction fencing will be installed to protect pedestrians from the 8’ trench required to access and replace the pipe. Once the pipe is replaced the bricks will also be replaced. Work is tentatively scheduled to be complete at the end of August.

While the pipe replacement work is taking place there will be no water service (including restrooms) in Humanities. Please use restrooms and water facilities in adjacent buildings such as Fraser Hall, and Wilson Library. Old Main is also served by the same sanitary sewer line but won’t be affected until a later date and for a brief period only. The date and time will be announced when determined. Our apologies for the inevitable inconvenience this will cause.
