Retirement celebration for Kergie Garcia Hamersley set for May 23

The Career Services Center is hosting a retirement celebration to honor Kergie Garcia Hamersley’s outstanding dedication and service to Western.  The celebration will be held in Old Main 280, from 3-5 p.m. on Wednesday, May 23, with remarks at 3:30 p.m.  Light refreshments will be provided.

Kergie started her career at Western in the Career Services Center as a graduate intern while completing her Master’s degree in Student Affairs.  In 1999 she joined the staff as a career counselor and advanced to the role of coordinator of Career Planning and Programs in 2006.  In 2010, Kergie became the assistant director of Career Services where she not only supervised staff but continued to supervise the peer staff and Human Service and Grad School interns.

As Kergie reflected on her 19 years of service to the university, she said, “I’ve had the privilege to work alongside many amazing students, staff and faculty who have enriched my life.  I carry these memories with me as I leave.”
