WWU to Host Winter Career Fair Feb. 11

Job seekers looking to connect directly with employers are invited to attend Western Washington University’s Winter Career Fair, which will take place Thursday, Feb. 11, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Viking Union Multi-purpose Room.  Admission to the fair is free and the event is open to the public.

Sponsored by WWU’s Career Services Center, the Winter Career Fair is a major recruiting event that allows students and the general public to meet with hiring managers from over 80 organizations, including private-sector companies, non-profit organizations and government agencies.

This event provides valuable opportunities for students and alumni of all majors to discuss internship and employment possibilities with participating organizations.  For those who may be uncertain about their career goals or options, the Winter Career Fair is an excellent resource for conducting job market research.

Participating employers include: ARAMARK, Comcast, Eddie Bauer, Fred Meyer, Island Hospital, KeyBank, PACCAR, Peace Corps, Pioneer Human Services, Tableau Software, Target and many more.

This year’s fair also will be featuring a STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) section. Participating employers include: Amazon, Dassault Systemes, Expeditors, Hexcel Corporation, the Port of Seattle, Skagit Regional Health, SpaceX, Washington State Department of Fish & Wildlife, Zodiac Aerospace and others. Many of these companies have opportunities for students from STEM disciplines, in addition to other fields.

To make the most of the Career Fair experience, job seekers should research participating companies in advance, dress in professional business attire, and bring lots of resumes.
