WWU Theatre Arts presents 'Landscape of the Body' Jan. 20-23 and 26-30

Western Washington University’s Department of Theatre Arts will present “Landscape of the Body,” directed by WWU Professor of Theatre Charlotte Guyette, from Jan. 20-23 and 26-30 in the PAC Mainstage Theater.

Written by John Guare, “Landscape of the Body” treads the water of some dark subject matter as it takes a hard look at the complex and intriguing landscape of a family that has gone awry. A mother leaves her son with $1,000 in cash to chase after a dream that turns out empty. Upon her return she discovers that her one decision has rippled and dramatically affected the lives of those around her. A dead sister returns to tell the story and sings her way through the production adding an extra layer to this “fascinating and complex piece” as described by Director Charlotte Guyette.

“Landscape of the Body” contains some adult material along with portrayal of drug use and harsh language. The production will have limited seating due to the intimate setting of the show.

“Landscape of the Body” will show at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday through Saturday, Jan. 20-22 and Wednesday through Saturday, Jan. 26-29; as well as at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 23 and Jan. 30. All performances will be held in Western Washington University’s Mainstage Theater.

Tickets are available through the WWU Box Office and cost $12 for general admission; $10 for seniors, WWU faculty and staff; and $8 for students.

WWU Box Office hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and one hour prior to the performance. For individual tickets or disability accommodations, contact the WWU Box Office at (360) 650-6146.
