WWU Summer Dance Theater Auditions Open to the Public May 15

As the opening move of a series of dance and theatre offerings this summer, Western Washington University will hold auditions for “Graffiti Dance Theater” at 6 p.m. on Friday, May 15, in Studio B of the Commissary building.

The dance company is looking for 10 to 15 members, and both students and community members alike are encouraged to audition. Schedule availability will be an important factor in the selection process, and choreographers will also be a part of the performing company. Those interested in choreographing work should contact Nolan Dennett as soon as possible. All company members will receive a stipend, and there is the possibility of summer scholarships for any student enrolled in at least two dance classes.

Five student works will be restaged this season. Rehearsals for the dance group will begin on Saturday, June 20, and the first performance will be Saturday, July 25 at the Orcas Center, located at 917 Mt. Baker Road in Eastsound. The group will perform in Western’s Viking Union Multipurpose Room from July 29 through Aug. 2.
