WWU’s Youth Programs to Host GEMS Night Out Nov. 18 in Poulsbo

Western Washington University’s Youth Programs invites students to participate in Girls in Engineering, Math and Science (GEMS) Night Out this fall at Poulsbo’s SEA Discovery Center.

The event will be held on Friday, Nov. 18, from 7-9:45 p.m. Students will explore Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fields relating to the theme “Machine Queens.”

Designed for girls in grades 3 -8 to provide a safe and empowering environment to explore STEM fields, GEMS Night Out provides an opportunity for hands-on learning in an inspiring environment.

A winter event will be held on Friday, Feb. 24, as well as an event in the spring,  on Friday, May 26.

Dancing Brush Studio is offering a 10 percent discount for parents whose children are participating in GEMS Night Out. The discount is meant to encourage parents to take some creative time for themselves, while their children have a fun evening themselves. To redeem the discount, visit the studio while GEMS Night Out is happening.

To participate in GEMS Night Out, a fee of $20 must be paid per student. Students are asked to bring a healthy snack and curious mind.
