WWU Pre-Optometry Club Collecting Donated Eyeglasses for Village in El Salvador

BELLINGHAM – Western Washington University’s Pre-Optometry Club (iCare Club), is collecting eyeglasses in donation boxes around campus from now through April 30.

All donated prescription glasses, reading glasses and sunglasses will be given to residents of a small village of El Salvador who cannot afford eye care.  The glasses will be distributed to those in need by a volunteer team of students from the iCare Club this September.

Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to donate used or unused glasses this month in the designated boxes placed around campus.  Donation boxes, provided by the Bellingham Central Lions, are conveniently located in the Wilson Library, the Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic, the Atrium, the Student Health Center, the Viking Union 6th floor lobby, and the Career Services Center.

The iCare Club is striving to collect these glasses in order to provide life-changing eye care for village members.
