Western's Academy for Lifelong Learning to Host Fall Program Preview Sept. 10

Western Washington University’s Academy for Lifelong Learning (A.L.L.) will host a fall program preview from 1-3 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 10 at the Bellingham Cruise Terminal; the preview is an opportunity to learn about A.L.L.’s fall courses and excursions while enjoying refreshments and visiting with friends.

In the spirit of the program belief that “a curious mind never retires,” A.L.L. is open to all interested adults, regardless of age or educational background.  No registration is necessary to attend the preview and the event is free and open to the community. At the preview, course instructors will provide brief descriptions of their upcoming courses and registration will be available on location from 2-3 p.m., as well as online.  Accepted forms of payment for in-person registration at the preview include Visa, MasterCard, or check.

Participants can arrive early to enjoy StrEAT Food from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and enter a raffle for a chance to win a StrEAT Food gift certificate or an A.L.L. gifts certificate, useable on a membership, course or excursion.

Taught by a diverse pool of Western Washington University faculty, faculty emeritus, and experts in many fields and professions, A.L.L. classes encourage participants to explore new subjects and ideas. Classes range from one to six sessions in length, with each session typically lasting two hours held once per week.

Fall 2015 offerings include 23 courses in politics, history, ecology, literature, music, film, and more. Four excursions include a day at the Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium, a Paddlewheeler River Boat Tour to Fort Langley, a night at Skagit Opera’s “Hansel and Gretel,” and a trip to the University of British Columbia’s Museum of Anthropology in Vancouver.
