Western to Host Three Lectures on Marine Life at Poulsbo’s SEA Discovery Center in June

Western Washington University on the Peninsulas will host Jennie Hoffman for a three lecture series this June as part of its Western Lecture Series.

All three lectures will be presented at the SEA Discovery Center located at 18743 Front St. in Poulsbo. The lecture schedule is as follows:

  • 6 p.m. on Wednesday, June 8 – “The Future of Our Oceans: Getting Where we Want to Go in a Changing World”
  • 6 p.m. on Thursday, June 16 – “Clones, Cannibals, and Copulation: Reproduction and Development of Marine Invertebrates”
  • 6 p.m. on Monday, June 20 – “Practical Evolution: Natural Selection in a Changing Marine Environment”

All lectures are free and open to the public.  RSVP is recommended but not required to attend and can be made online at wwu.edu/KitsapEvents.

Hoffman, who has a doctorate in Marine Ecology, has worked in the field of climate change for over a decade. Currently, she helps organizations integrate climate change into their work through direct engagement and targeted research, as well as develops and leads adaption-related workshops and training for diverse audiences.

The Western Lecture Series hosts quarterly educational events with guest speakers as they share insight on popular topics in human rights, the environment, wellness, and more.
