Western’s Youth Programs Announces Virtual 'Young Explorers' Program

Western’s Youth Programs is offering a virtual summer program for elementary school students this July, called Young Explorers Science Camp. There are two sections available: "All Washed Up" is designed for students entering grades three through five, and "Light: Where Have All the Colors Gone?" is perfect for students entering kindergarten through second grade. The cost of the program is $50 per student.

Each week of Young Explorers Science Camp offers enrichment lessons that encourage students to explore the world of science in a new way. All Washed Up examines the science of water and currents to explore how fun and unusual objects wash up on beaches and riverbanks. Light: Where Have All the Colors Gone? looks at the science behind how physics causes light and colors to behave in exciting ways.

Both science camps are Monday through Thursday, from 9-10 a.m. each day. All Washed Up runs July 12-15, and Light: Where Have All the Colors Gone? runs July 19-22. Registration is available online and the classes are held on Zoom. For more program information, registration and updates, visit wwu.edu/young-explorers.
