Theologian Ray Bakke to Present ‘From Abraham to the Syrian Crisis’ at Western Feb. 10

Western Washington University will host the lecture “From Abraham to the Syrian Crisis: Refugees in History and Theology” by Raymond J. Bakke at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 10 in Fraser Hall Room 102.

The event is free and open to the public.

Raymond Bakke is a professor of Global Urban Leadership for the Ray Bakke Centre for Urban Transformation in Hong Kong and has traveled and worked in the Middle East. He also invests in the next generation of urban ministry leader through his organization Ray Bakke Associates and is the author of several books including “A Theology as Big as the City,” “Street Signs” and “A Surprising Journey.”

Bakke recently returned from a trip to the Middle East with 30 doctoral students where he studied the Christian church in a Middle Eastern context in order to gain a new perspective on the issues facing the region today.

The lecture is sponsored by the Western Christian Faculty Forum, the Campus Christian Fellowship and The INN Ministries.
