'Recycled Cinema' event Feb. 6 to benefit scholarships

An upcoming event at the Make.Shift Art Space will benefit a scholarship for Film Studies students at Western Washington University.

"Recycled Cinema," a project by WWU associate professor of English Kaveh Askari and Jess Flegel, will take place from 7 to 10 p.m. during Art Walk on Friday, Feb. 6. DJ Zach Zinn will provide music.

According to a description of the event, the project "dismantles a film made of old media about a place, on the opposite corner of the continent, which will eventually return to the sea."

Gifts can be made directly to the scholarship at www.wwu.edu/give (please indicate that your gift is designated for the Recycled Cinema Scholarship).

Art Walk begins at 6 p.m. at locations throughout Bellingham. Make.Shift is located at 306 Flora St. downtown.
