Rail transportation meeting and roundtable to be held at Western Oct. 8

All Aboard Washington will hold a public meeting at Western Washington University on from 1-4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 8, in Viking Union room 565.

The meeting will feature a presentation of WWU student research on the feasibility of an Amtrak Cascades station stop in Blaine. Local officials will review opportunities for more frequent and faster passenger rail service from Whatcom County

The meeting is open to the public. Students and community members are encouraged to attend and participate, especially those interested in urban planning, transportation policy, regional and international business & economics. Sponsored by All Aboard Washington in collaboration with the Cascadia Academy and Western's Border Policy Research Institute, Department of Management and Office of Sustainability.

Lunch is available at noon, at a cost of $17, payable at the door, with advance reservation. RSVP Lloyd Flem, washarp@q.com to reserve lunch.  The community meeting from 1-4 p.m. is free.

All Aboard Washington is a passenger-centered rail advocacy organization dedicated to promoting the improvement of passenger and freight rail transportation in the state of Washington.
