Proposals requested for campus technology initiatives

The Student Technology Fee Committee is accepting tech initiative abstracts for the current academic year. All Western Washington University employees and students may apply, and abstracts are due to the Student Technology Fee Committee Jan. 15.

Two key documents are on the Student Technology Fee website at http://www.wwu.edu/stf/:

The one-page abstracts must be prioritized by the appropriate unit (college, division, department, etc.) before submission on Jan. 15. Therefore, administrative units should set their own internal deadlines for prioritizing before the due date. After the Committee receives all abstracts, it will select those abstracts for which it would like to see full proposals.

Tech initiatives make up approximately 8.5 percent of the Student Technology Fee, or approximately $125,000 in 2015 (plus any proportional savings from previous years' funds). The tech initiatives portion of the Student Technology Fee pays for technology projects—proposed by employees and students—that support the Student Technology Fee mission.

Last year's proposals included enhanced collaborative technology in the Learning Commons, microform scanners for the library, high-definition microscopy projection equipment, and more.

For a complete picture of the proposal process, interested students and employees should refer to the Student Technology Fee website at http://www.wwu.edu/stf/, where this year's timeline, full instructions, forms, the previous year's proposals and project history are available.
