President offers thanks, kudos for Back 2 Bellingham celebration

Western Washington University President Bruce Shepard offered his thanks for Western's annual reunion event in a message to the WWU community:

Dear Colleagues:

Taking in the festive atmosphere of Back 2 Bellingham this past weekend it was easy to see why returning alumni, new and prospective students, and community members—not to mention all of us!—look forward to it all year long.  Compressed into the hundreds of events and activities, from the zipline to the Low Rider Show, Classes without Quizzes to just catching up with old friends, was the essence of what makes Western and Bellingham such an extraordinary place to learn, to live, and to play.  It certainly made me grateful to be a part of this community, and the rich dimensions of the engaged excellence that is Western.

It also made me appreciate how much hard work and thoughtful planning go in to making it such a special event.  It truly does “take a village” to put on an event of this scale and quality, and the enthusiastic participation of so many on campus is one of the reasons that it’s a success.  To all who contributed to Back 2 Bellingham 2015, thank you for making this the best one yet!
