Presentation series: 'Serving the Trans Community in a Collegiate Environment'

The Western Libraries and Western Libraries' Diversity Committee at Western Washington University are sponsoring a three-day summer presentation program revolving around the topic of gender identity at the university.

The program is in response to Western's recently implemented policies regarding the name changes that can accompany the transition process for trans individuals. This policy change is a simple one that reflects Western's growing understanding of all student needs -- not just those of cisgendered students -- and the institution's commitment to meet those needs.

Janis Walworth from the Center for Gender Sanity will be a guest speaker. The three presentations will be held at 1 p.m. in Wilson Library Room 270. The topics are as follows:

  • July 10: Gender Identity 101
  • July 17: The Trans Community
  • July 24: Best Practices in Higher Education
